FAQ

I haven't really gotten any questions about the game but I'm anticipating the ones that people would most likely be asking a lot.  I guess if there ever are any questions that are frequently asked I'll update the post.

  • Q: Where can I download it?  A: Right now, you can't.  As of last update to this page (August 10, 2015), Mega-Risk is basically unplayable.  Although there are a few 'builds' I've posted about, they're mainly for development purposes to keep track of milestones.  I'll let you all know when Mega-Risk is ready to be let out into the world for all the crazy people to play with.
  • Q: What are the minimum requirements for Mega-Risk?  A: I'm not entirely sure. Chances are, if your computer can run the internet and any game at the same time without lagging or sounding like death, it should be fine.
  • Q: Seriously? Mega-Risk?  Couldn't you guys think of a better name than thatA: Working.  Title.  A couple of names have bounced around but nothing's really become of them.  Mega-Risk works for now because that's the name the team is familiar with.
  • Q: I thought Unreal 4 games were supposed to be gorgeous!  All of your screenshots look like crap.  A: We're trying to get the game playable before making it look pretty.  Don't you worry, though, the prettiness will come soon enough.
  • Q: Do you guys call yourself anything other than The Mega-Risk Dev Group?  A: Yes, yes we do.  The name of our unofficial company is Chakram Studios.
  • Q: Will Mega-Risk be on Steam?  A: I have yet to confer with the Elder Council about this, but right now I'm gonna say probably not.  The nature of open source projects are too volitile and changeable for them to be hosted on a platform like Steam.
  • Q: You keep saying Mega-Risk is open source.  Where can I get the source code.  A: Okay, you got me.  We haven't gotten around to setting up the open source stuff just yet.  In fact, if you're reading this page because you stumbled across it randomly, you shouldn't really be here.  The group and I aren't ready to let anyone know about this thing yet.  When we are, we'll have the source all ready for you to download and mess around with.
  • Q: If I want to download the code and mess around with it, will I need Unreal Engine 4?  A: Yes.  Also, make sure you're using the correct engine version.  For the foreseeable future, the project should stay up-to-date, but that might have to change as things get more comlicated.
  • Q: These features you're adding don't sound like they should take that long.  Are you procrastinating?  A: I could say I have a life, but that would be a half-lie.  There are a number of reasons why certain things take so long.  Sometimes it's bugs, sometimes it's the simple size of the feature, sometimes it is procrastination.
  • Q: UE4 sux. Get Unity. n00b.  A: Shoo.
  • Q: Is there any official website for Mega-Risk or Chakram Studios other than this?  A: At the moment, no.
